It had potential, and the artwork and animation were both really good. However the punchline was rather... lacking.
Perhaps make it more clear in the end that the one character is upset, or angry or whatever, and have the kick a little more impactful. A bigger sound, a scream of agony from the abusee. Something just to make it really stand out and pop. As it is, it just kind of goes on without drawing much attention to itself.
The rest of it was pretty good though.
most ppl commented on the punch, guess i rlly haf to work hard on em next time.. :)
I have to say, that on a primarily English Website, a soundless flash with words that are done all in another language will loose a massive user base. I can't really tell what's going on, for even though the graphics and animation themselves seem pretty good, there's no voice or English translation to move the story along.
Yes i know! but just wait a couple days! and finally the episodes will be have audio, tranlation and else....
Yes, St. Patrick rid Ireland of snakes, but this simply used lines from a movie, with areally horribly dubbed in "Ireland" on top of sub-par animation, before going into a random song yelling "fuck you snakes". The song wasn't even catchy. Could have been much better.
Oh no maybe that's the joke
Not that impressive.
It was an interesting idea with lots of potential, you just didn't seem to execute very well. While the art was actually fairly decent, the voices just didn't seem into their roles. Just sounded like some guys reading of a scrap of paper without any enthusiasm. The only one I can't speak for was nakoruru, the voice of April, as I could barely hear her.
Now as to the sex scene. No I wasn't offended, it was an M rated flash after all, it just went on too long, and seemed very pointless. At one moment I started to wonder if the video had just randomly ended and was stuck in a loop. If it had been much shorter it would have gotten a decent laugh and the overall quality of the flash would have went up, but it was just out of place and too long.
That's all I have. Keep working as you do have a lot of potential to make something good. It shows in your art and the core of your ideas.
I have a feeling I need to listen to the movie in speakers instead of earphones, I could hear everything fine myself
Story aside, the visuals were great. The animation was smooth and easily let the viewer know what was happening. The sounds were greatly done, my ears picking up the little ones that just added to the atmosphere of the entire piece. The music was wonderful, emotional and fit in perfectly with the work. Your voice actors were simply amazing especially Kailey Kaneshiro, whom in my opinion stole the show, but all of them working together brought this piece up to an entirely different level. I'm very happy you were able to bring them on board.
As to the story. It was beautiful and touching. I loved the ebb and flow of emotion you managed to orchestrate, using flashbacks to add to the flavour. Though it was long it let you build more on the characters, even making me feel sympathy for he who could be called a villain, which is simply astounding. Most don't bother to give a human side to their villains. The ending was excellent and uplifting, perfect for this time of year.
In closing, I will simply state, thank you for sharing. It was touching, beautiful, and so many other words I could throw onto the page to try and describe what you have created here.
ahahaha Kailey! Yes she did well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
you always havee to give human side to your villians. that's how you do it. not some mindless, purposeless villain.
Thank you for your appreciation. Nice review. Thanks for your time.
Great Zombie Flash
There's not too too many serious zombie flashes out there, and this one was a great addition.
I'm quite glad you added the hair, not only does it help keep the characters apart, but also adds some personality to them as well, so good decision on that. The voice actors were a nice touch, rather than what I usually see (subtitles or Microsoft Sam). Though they weren't the best I've ever heard, they were still miles above some voice actors I've heard and not having any at all.
Other sound effects were quite well done as well, and the music suited it well.
Animation was nice and smooth, and nothing seemed really out of place at all. It would have been a nice touch to add some vests or something to the officers to make it a little more real, but they are stick figures. Still, I think you could have expanded the stick figure genre a bit with vests or some such.
Guns were well drawn, nothing to saw there.
The red zombies intrigued me, too bad you never explained them at all.
All in all. Good flash. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks. The red zombies have like an extra life. Shooting them in the head isnt gonna make them die, they just turn into a regular slow moving zombie. But alot of shots to the body you can still kill it but it will take alot but they wont turn green unless you shoot in the head.
First off, just having voice acting was a plus over most madness voices. While it was a little... dreary, especially the female jedi, the rest wasn't too bad.
The characters, while no fully madness worked here, and looked quite good.
Now as for the violence. Well it was really well done. The fighting on the station had some pretty creative bits in it, and the inclusion of a small space battle was something you don't see in your everyday Madness flash.
Glad to see a well thought out review, I appreciate it! I'm no great voice actor, and my friend who played the female Jedi was pretty nervous, as it was her first time doing any voice acting ever, but I think they worked out good, still learning the finer points of audacity and working on my acting to make it more authentic.
The space battle is my forte! <3 bit metal things that go pew pew pew!
Thanks again for the review.
Not only worthy of Madness, but also of zombie films. All the small little references to various zombie movies already made with lines and the characters you presented (from what I saw, original Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead, remake of Dawn of the Dead, Resident Evil Apocalypse, and even L4D) fit in to make a wonderful tapestry.
While not as over the top in the action as most madness, it was bloody, brutal and violent enough to fit in perfectly, as well as the small bits that were very madness styled in the action.
I like the use of Hydralisks and Mutalisks to make the zombie sounds. Creepy and unique. Another unique bit of your work in the madness world in Female characters. Saw them in one other piece, but they weren't very obviously female (aside from long hair and voices).
I hope I don't have to wait until next year to see the conclusion (or perhaps more if it comes to that, I love this particular series), but if I do, I can wait patiently for another flash as good as this one.
Also, to satiate my curiosity, what's the third one gonna be called?
Thanks, as for the third, maybe Dusk of the Madness?
This is unfortunate as this piece could have been very good. However mpminute said, Deathgore dosn't really do much. Folks just fall over as he dies which while some people could say was amusing or funny, just looks like lazy animation to me. Besides that, there is a sequence when he walks past a bunch of guards who are just standing about, and absolutely nothing happens. You make Deathgore out to be the ultimate killing machine but he dosn't even really seem to try, which takes away any sense that he could be really good, just seems like a somewhat less lazy guy fighting enemies who don't move an inch to defend themselves. The music was indeed repeptive, and there were no sounf effects to make the fights seem a little more intresting.
It's more of a comedy than an action movie. :P
Very well done
Well done flash in many areas. The voice acting was excellent, the humor varied and actually humorous. The animation and graphics were great. Finally the characters were intresting and varied. They all had their own small quirks that were noticable, and this was just episode one. Good job.
that's right, 6 more to come! glad you liked it!
